One of the easiest ways to monetize a blog is by using Google Adsense. One of the most popular blog monetization tools available, I recommend that many sites use it as a way to generate revenue. That said, there is another way you can utilize Adsense as a tool for your blog.
That way is checking your SEO. Adsense works by pulling keywords from your content and placing ads that match that content on your blog or website. Now, it is true that Google Adsense has shifted its parameters some, but in the end, that won’t really matter TOO much.
After you make a post on your blog, give Adsense about five minutes, and then check out the live post. If your post makes proper use of search engine optimization techniques, then the ads used in your content should match what you have just written. If they don’t, consider going back and tweaking the content with keywords. Doing so will increase the likelihood that your Adsense ads match the content.
Why do you want it to match so well? Simply put, if your readers got to your site via search, or are regular readers, they have an interest in your content. They might have an interest in someone else’s content as well. Having Adsense advertisements that closely identify with the blog post increase the chances of your leading readers to pertinent content elsewhere.
While this process will work the vast majority of the time, it’s important to note that Google Adsense won’t always align well with content. For example, when big events, such as the holiday season are approaching, advertisers drive up their advertising budget and compete more for traffic. When there are SO MANY ads to be placed, you may see a misaligned ad or two in your content. Don’t fret over this too much. Give it a couple of days and it will likely be aligned well. However, if you are seeing a lot of ads that do not match over the course of a week, then it’s time to tweak your content.
