After you’ve been writing for money online for awhile, it’s easy to slow down, get a little complacent, and feel a little stale. It’s a repetitive business in many aspects, and mentally, it can take a lot out of you. Sometimes, all you need to get going again is to find a motivator.
For me, that motivator is money. I love checking my stats every day. I have a handy little spreadsheet that tracks my earnings for me, and filling in its cells is exciting. I have a sheet for every month of the year and within it, a row for each day. I have a column for each site, and every day I can see the total from the day before. It also keeps a running total the month, but also for the year.
Because I watch my numbers every single day, it is important for me to see growth. Sometimes that growth doesn’t come quickly enough for me, or it drops off in the summer, which is annoying. During those times, I know I need to keep producing, so I offer myself a challenge.
My favorite way to see a boost in earnings is my own “10 in 10 Challenge.” I’ll challenge myself to write 10 articles in 10 days. Maybe you thought I already wrote an article per day anyhow. Sometimes I do, but the beauty of getting to the point where I am at is that I no longer need to write once per day to sustain my level of earnings. I write 3-4 articles a week and still see growth.
But, by forcing myself to write 10 articles in 10 days, I see an almost instant income boost, and it will work for you, too. If you’re a seasoned blogger or online article writer, you’ll have 10 more pieces of content that will earn and you’ll likely see a small, short boost of money. If you’re new to writing online, adding 10 articles immediately should boost your income considerably, demonstrating the power of more content.
Sometimes I take the challenge a different direction, and write the articles in a topic that I normally do not, which makes it a bit more interesting. Sometimes I will write 5 articles in one day, and then finish the rest the next. Either way, I get my ten articles in, and see a nice boost to my income. The best part about it is that the boost will be there to earn residual, passive income with the rest of my content, too.
